For the Migros Aare cooperative, we were able to design and install the expansion and optimisation of the returns in the logistics centre at the well-known Shoppyland Schönbühl on 800 m2 over 2 floors of a new facility. In addition to the fully automatic conveyor technology for pallet and pack transport, special products "pack destacker", "tipping station" and "vision systems" were developed and supplied in-house.
The Migros Aare Cooperative is Migros' largest logistics platform. The "Migros Logistics Platform 2030" project aims to significantly increase the handling volume over the next few years. The logistics centre in Schönbühl, next to the well-known Shoppyland, was continuously expanded, converted and renovated during ongoing operations. In a first step, Gilgen Logistics was allowed to replace and automate the returns logistics (RETLOG).
NEW SYSTEM FOR RETURNS LOGISTICS
The returns logistics building was expanded by 800 square metres and raised by two storeys. The existing sorting system was replaced by a new system for the automatic sorting and disposal of recyclable material fractions such as PET, cardboard, plastic packaging and refuse. The material flow is controlled entirely in the plant software. This made it possible to dispense with higher-level warehouse management systems and material flow computers.
Up to 6,500 pallets of returnable containers and recyclable material fractions are processed per day. All returns, including containers, are transported by lorries or by rail from the branches back to the operations centre in Schönbühl. There, the goods are sorted and sent to the appropriate locations for reuse or disposal via the fully automated conveyor system.
We had a very cool project process from A-Z.
