Novartis Pharma Schweiz AG is a subsidiary of Novartis Pharma AG Basel. As one of the largest Swiss pharmaceutical companies, it is responsible nationally for prescription medicines from Novartis.
Requirements
A reorganisation of the laboratories was planned for building WSJ 355 (Architect: David Chipperfield) on the campus of Novartis Pharma AG. One objective was to strike out in a new direction for the areas of supply and disposal. The system was designed to transport waste containers from the laboratories on the 1st through 3rd upper floors to the 1st basement floor and glassware from the laboratories to the 2nd basement floor and back.
Logistics solution
Gilgen Logistics AG was commissioned to provide the mechanical and control systems and handle the installation and the commissioning of the vertical conveying system with the relevant stations and buffer lines. The high-performance lift connects the 1st and 2nd basement floors with the laboratories on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd upper floors. The lift shaft has a height of 28.6 m and the transport systems fulfil the latest laboratory guidelines.
